A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy is in a Gold Coast hospital after ingesting what is believed to be the dangerous drug fantasy while with his mother and her bikie partner.
Gold Coast Police Assistant Commissioner Brian Wilkins confirmed police were investigating after the boy was rushed to hospital on Saturday afternoon and showed symptoms similar to having taken a dangerous drug.
The young child is the son of a woman who is in a relationship with a member of the Bandidos OMC.
The boy has recovered and is expected to be released from the Gold Coast University Hospital either this afternoon or tomorrow.
“The child has ingested something and we don’t know what that something is,” Assistant Commissioner Wilkins said. “We are testing the child.”
Assistant Commissioner Wilkins said the boy was with his mother and the de facto partner at the time of the incident.
It is understood the child has a medical condition which also included seizures.
The Bulletin has been told the mother and her de facto are very “distressed” about what has happened.
Police are yet to speak with the bikie.
Fantasy is often used in its liquid form which looks a lot like water.
The lack of colour means those who use it often store the drug in water bottles which they carry with them.
Towards the end of last year fantasy began to “pump” through the Gold Coast with a sudden rise in the number of court appearances for the drug.
A single millilitre of fantasy costs about $5 and it is usually taken in 2ml quantities.
