STOCKTON — A man who was charged with attempted murder after stabbing another man in a Manteca bar two years ago accepted a plea deal for a misdemeanor Monday morning and will serve no jail time, said his attorney, Allen Sawyer.

Brandon Burlingame, 36, was a Lathrop-Manteca Fire District firefighter at the time of the stabbing. According to authorities, he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and a weapon enhancement.

Officers who investigated the stabbing in 2017 learned Burlingame was wearing a Jus Brothers Motorcycle Club patch at the time of the assault.

According to Sawyer, Burlingame entered the bar and was approached in a threatening manner by two men significantly larger than he is.

The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital and survived serious injuries.

“To ward (one of the men) off, (Burlingame) pulled out a knife and stabbed him once,” Sawyer said Monday. “This guy continued to chase him but my guy got away.”

Burlingame now works as an electrician in Arizona, according to Sawyer.
