Vic man jailed over drugs, OMC links

A Victorian drug trafficker with bikie links and arrested in possession of a samurai sword has been jailed for more than seven years.

Yoshaan Vincent, now 30, was sentenced in the County Court on Friday to a maximum of seven years and six months in jail after pleading guilty to a raft of offences committed between 2017 and 2018.

Vincent was arrested on November 29, 2017, for alleged blackmail offences but acquitted in June this year.

While on bail, however, he was ordered not to associate with Comanchero bikies, not to contact any co-accused, use only one mobile phone number and share the pass code with police.

He breached his conditions five weeks after being granted bail by associating with members of the bikie club between February 23 to May 10, 2018.

“Your association with the Comancheros is a concern,” Judge Robert Dyer said on Friday.

On April 25, 2018 Vincent was found holding 8.1 grams of 26-28 per cent pure cocaine in four bags in a Mitcham park as part of a deal organised via Snapchat.

After his initial arrest the previous year, police also found 27.7g of ice in his bedroom and he refused to hand over the codes to his phones.

In May 2018, Vincent was again arrested and found with multiple phones and cash, and he refused to allow officers to unlock his devices.

The next month, they found 14 snaplock bags containing 417.7g of ice hidden in a secure lockbox under a wheel arch.

Police went to his home again in November, finding a samurai sword, cash and nine viles of growth hormone somatropin in his fridge.

“The circumstances of your offending reveal a a level of sophistication and pre-planning which was clearly erected towards the avoidance of detection and the maintenance of your ability to continue your involvement in this highly lucrative and socially pursuit of drug trafficking,” Judge Dyer said.

However he noted Vincent had also pleaded guilty at an early stage and showed “some genuine remorse”.

His partner said in a statement to the court that having spent his 30th birthday in jail, Vincent had “reflected deeply” on his actions.

But Judge Dyer warned that Vincent’s association with any motorcycle club on release would “greatly impede” his rehabilitation.

He must spend a minimum of four years and six months in jail, with 545 days already served.
