Two on weapons charges after Qld cop raids

A Queensland man with links to a New Zealand Mongrel Mob and the Rebels OMC has been arrested after raids allegedly found weapons buried in a Gold Coast backyard.

Police charged two men following the raid at a Southport home on Wednesday.

Officers allegedly found six firearms and Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Club clothing buried in the back yard.

Steroids, cannabis and clothing linked to the New Zealand Mongrel Mob was also allegedly found.

A 25-year-old man, whom police say has links to the Rebels and the New Zealand-based Mongrel Mob, and a 29-year-old man were charged with weapons and drug offences.

Both are expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Galpin said the haul was a “significant seizure”.
