City police have charged a prospective member of a local Hells Angels chapter with threatening two of their officers.
The service said the verbal threats were made to the officers during the man’s arrest on December 11 on an unrelated matter at a home in the 5600 block of 20 St. S.W.
The prospect for the outlaw motorcycle group allegedly made comments to one officer while being transported to the arrest processing unit.
It’s alleged he also directed threats at another officer in a courtroom during his bail hearing.
Police accuse the man of using the Hells Angels’ reputation for intimidation and violence by telling the police members he’d done considerable research on them and knew their home addresses.
The man was clad in support gear denoting an association with the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club Southland Chapter during both incidents and is a self-admitted prospect with the group, say police.
Robert Herring, 36, was re-arrested on the allegations on Dec. 19 and is charged with two counts of intimidation of a justice system participant.
