A former Australian federal policeman says New Zealand’s not prepared for foreign gangs.
Adam, who only wants his first name known, was also a cop here, and says clubs like the Comanchero are being swollen by criminals deported from Australia.
Adam told Heather du Plessis-Allan that the Comanchero are more ruthless than the gangs that currently operate here, and he thinks a gang war is imminent.
“As you can see, it’s getting worse. You wait till they get a griphold. And you’ve got gang members from other gangs defecting and heading to the Comanchero because they know what’s coming.”
He says that the Comanchero are barely able to operate in Australia, but they can operate “unmolested” in New Zealand.
He believes the justice system needs an overhaul if authorities are to cope, and the Police need assistance.
“The gangs you have here, the Mongrel Mob or Black Power, they hardly touch society at the moment, but that’s going to change rapidly.”
Adam reiterates that this is his opinion, but he has spoken with other former police officers and they all believe that more needs to be done to stop the club getting a bigger foothold.
