Rare look back inside the former Aquila clubhouse in Plymouth

Aquila MC

Plymouth’s well-known biker group the Aquila were never far from the headlines.

Its one time head was jailed for 12 years come the end of 2018 for conspiring to supply class A drugs.

Yet whatever you made of the club, many of its riders oozed passion for life in the fast lane and the ability to ride free.

And they also did a lot for the community and charitable causes – on ride outs and visits to local hospitals.

Some of the Aquila’s faithful have been regularly spotted in clubs and pubs through the years.

It was almost a given you’d give any one of the jacket clad gang a wide berth, out of respect.

They wouldn’t give you any bother, so long as you didn’t provoke.

It’s perhaps lesser known that the Aquila also had their own special watering hole to hang out in, too.

The seven-bed pile went up for auction for a tidy £155,000 last year – two years after the band reportedly broke up and ‘patched’ over to Satans Slaves.

And it was then that rare pictures inside the old den surfaced, taking the wider public on a journey through a world they rarely got a chance to delve inside.

There’s even a motorcycle mounted on the wall in what appears to be the main clubhouse area, which has a pool table and various seating areas.

In another room lined with chairs, the Satans Slaves MC South Devon banner fills a wall, and to the rear, the Aquila logo can be spotted.

Now seems a good a time as any to take you back down the rabbit hole into the Aquila’s old home.

Motorbike memorabilia hung all over the walls, unsurprisingly
