Tauranga (B-N.C) – The national president of the New Zealand Mongols MC Jim David “JD” Thacker has been arrested on unlawful firearm possession charges after a loaded pistol was allegedly found in the car he was travelling in.
The .357 Magnum gave grounds for thoughts of the of the police about possible escalation of conflict between Mongols MC and Greazy Dogs MC.
Another one 22-year old Mongol Mokonuiarangi Chong was in the car with Jim David “JD” Thacker.
Mokonuiarangi Chong was also charged with unlawful possession of the same loaded pistol found in the car.
Police allege that both of them was en route to residential homes where members of the Greazy Dogs lived.
Further search warrants at address linked to the Mongols MC found a homemade nail bomb.
Thacker was also charged with an aggravated robbery and two counts of driving while disqualified when he appeared in the Tauranga District Court.
Jim David “JD” Thacker was denied bail.
Also police allege that Thacker forced a Greazy Dogs member to take off the sweatshirt branded with club colors threatening him with a knife.
The overall quantity of patched Mongols MC members under the leadership of Jim David “JD” Thacker is about 20 by police estimations.
