Editor’s Column: Tough times need difficult decisions

Attention

That what should happen at last happened – we got a message from lawyers of one of the biggest news corps with copyright claims.

That means couple of things for biker-news.com:

First and a good one – we became big enough to be visible.

Second and a bad one – we became big enough to be monitored and prosecuted in case it is needed and in that case all content that may violate copyright should be reviewed and rewritten or removed in the nearest time. I don’t want to be involved in the war I can’t win.

All new stories should be written by ourselves.

That makes biker-news.com support into very time-consuming thing in the future for the project that almost not making the revenue and I see couple of possible ways of the given situation development:

1. Biker-news.com deleting all content that may violate copyright and doing nothing afterwards dying slowly.

2. Biker-news.com deleting all content that may violate copyright and seeking resources to make it main project for its founder.

3. Biker-news.com deleting all content that may violate copyright and seeking resources to hire an independent copywriter and editor.

In any case content violating copyright will be deleted (it will take some time, but whatever).

I haven’t decided what to do yet, and it takes time to think. I really do not like the first option, which means that all my efforts should be buried. Any suggestions are welcome in the comments.

Sincerely,

Biker-news.com
