The alleged Road captain of the Canberra Comanchero Motorcycle club was locked up on Thursday, accused of money laundering and breaching his bail.
Police allege Jirawat Marrotnok McCallum, 31, of Gungahlin, has been laundering money from drug trafficking through the Lakeside Tattoo Parlour.
McCallum had been on bail awaiting sentence for drug offences in the ACT Supreme Court. One of his bail conditions was to be present at his home during certain hours and police allege when they visited his home on Saturday night he did not present himself.
He was arrested when he turned himself in to the City Police Station and was further charged with money laundering.
He has not entered pleas to the new charges.
Police documents allege McCallum had been living beyond his means and declarable income.
The documents listed a number of vehicles, totalling tens of thousands of dollars, which McCallum had bought and sold over several years.
McCallum is listed as the director of a construction company but taxation records declared wages over two years of less than $15,000, the documents alleged.
He allegedly provided the owner of the Lakeside Tattoo Parlour with $30,000 last year and despite not being a tattoo artist nor an employee of the parlour had been receiving regular payments from the business.
Police allege the ongoing payments point to the continuous conduct by McCallum of laundering money and the proceeds of crime.
McCallum did not apply for bail in the ACT Magistrates Court and he was remanded in custody.
Prosecutor Anthony Williamson later made an application for McCallum’s Supreme Court bail for the drug offences to be revoked due to the alleged further offending.
Justice John Burns decided to adjourn the matter pending the outcome of a possible future bail application in the Magistrates Court.
McCallum is due to be sentenced for the drug offences later this month.
