Two car sales yards were attended by police from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch today as part of an ongoing investigation into recent unlawful activity by Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs (OMC) in Adelaide.
Businesses in Somerton Park and Mile End were inspected by police, along with vehicle identity inspectors from Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) and inspectors from Consumer and Business Services.
Police also searched a residence in Adelaide’s southern suburbs.
A total of 34 vehicles were defected by SAPOL as a result of today’s inspections, with further compliance issues to be followed up by CBS.
SA Police’s Crime Gangs Taskforce are investigating five fires and two shootings which are believed to be linked, with the most recent being a fire set alight in a residential driveway at Lockleys about 4am on Tuesday (20 August).
The ongoing investigation has seen police search more than 80 properties to date across the state, along with cell searches conducted by the Department for Correctional Services.
“Police will leave no stone unturned in our bid to bring an end to this unacceptable violent behaviour,” said Detective Superintendent Mark Trenwith the officer in charge of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch.
“This type of criminal offending poses an unacceptable risk to the wider community.”
