A top brass Outlaws Motorcycle Club member has been charged over serious firearm offences after a major police sting in northern Tasmania.
The Bracknell man, 39, was charged on Friday after police found an automatic weapon, a pistol, several other firearms, a large quantity of ammunition and explosives at several homes.
“We will continue to actively disrupt the illicit activities of outlaw motorcycle gang members and those people who choose to associate with them and want the community to be reassured that the criminal behaviour exhibited by members of these gangs won’t be tolerated,” Detective Acting Inspector John Parker said in a statement.
The man is expected to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Saturday over charges including possess an unregistered firearm and unlawful possession of an explosive.
