Firearm seized from Modbury North home

Two men will face court today after firearms were found at a Modbury North home on Saturday.

On Saturday 14 December, police from the Crime Gangs Task Force attended a Modbury North home to conduct a search.

Police entered the home and located an 18-year-old man in possession of a loaded .22 calibre revolver.

A further search uncovered approximately 67 grams of methylamphetamine concealed in the back yard, items associated with the trafficking of controlled drugs, ammunition, and an expandable baton and crossbow. The man was subsequently arrested.

A second occupant returned to the home which police will allege is a full member of the Descendants Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. The 56-year-old man was also arrested and served with a Firearms Prohibition Order.

Both men were charged with possession of a prescribed firearm, possession of ammunition and trafficking in a controlled drug.

The 56-year-old was further charged with possession of prohibited weapons and breaching a firearms prohibition order.

They were refused bail and are expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Detective Superintendent Steve Taylor, Officer in Charge of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch said, “Outlaw motorcycle gang members, guns and drugs tend to go hand in hand and this seizure is typical of how they operate.

These men now face very serious charges.  If you choose to operate outside of the law then you should expect our full attention.”
