Part of State Highway 1 in Canterbury was partly closed on Thursday morning while armed police searched a property understood to have club links.
SH1 between Burnham and Rolleston was closed on both sides of the road while the police armed offenders squad executed a search warrant at a property on Main South Rd, Burnham.
The road has been reopened, police said.
“Police executed a pre-planned search warrant on Main South Rd, Burnham, around 7am,” a police spokesman said.
“AOS assisted as a precaution. The road is now open.”
The raid is understood to have taken place at a property linked to the Mongols MC motorcycle club.
It comes after a Christchurch barbershop with links to the Mongols was destroyed in a deliberate fire on Sunday night.
Emergency services were called to Bristol Barbers on Wainoni Rd about 10pm on Sunday after a car was driven into the shop and the building was set on fire.
Armed police stood guard outside the barbershop earlier this week.
The same barbershop had its windows smashed and a suspicious fire was lit inside during the early hours of February 14.
