Two Mongols outlaw motorcycle club members will reappear in court today following an investigation by Strike Force Raptor into an alleged street robbery in Sydney’s Inner West last year.
About 8.50pm on Saturday 21 December 2019, a 31-year-old man was approached by two men outside an apartment complex on East Street, Five Dock.
The 31-year-old man was repeatedly punched in the head by one of the men before his personal belongings – a satchel bag and gold watch – were stolen.
The injured man returned to his home, while the pair left the area.
A member of the public who witnessed the incident, notified emergency services who attended shortly after.
The man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with facial injuries and a fractured jaw. He has since been released.
An investigation into the incident was subsequently commenced by officers from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor.
As part of their inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Erskine Park and seized a number of items for forensic examination, about 7.15am on Wednesday 15 January 2020.
A 40-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Penrith Police Station, where he was charged with robbery in company.
The man, who is a Mongols OMC member, was granted strict conditional bail and is next due to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 1 April 2020).
Following further inquiries, detectives from Ryde Police Area Command arrested a 30-year-old man at Railway Parade, Eastwood, just before midday on Tuesday 10 March 2020.
The man, who is a Mongols OMC member, was taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with an outstanding warrant for robbery in company.
He appeared at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 10 March 2020, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court today.
