Police have seized weapons and drugs including a drug manufacturing lab following a series of raids yesterday in the South Eastern Region that resulted in two men being charged.
As part of an operation targeting firearms and drug trafficking by outlaw motorcycle clubs (OMC), officers from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Gangs Group, with assistance from Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol and Jimboomba Criminal Investigation Branch executed search warrants on three acreage properties at Jimboomba and Mount Nathan.
During a search of a Boorah Road Jimboomba address, police located a clandestine laboratory used to produce amphetamine, along with 200 grams of amphetamine, 200 MDMA tables, a quantity of pseudoephedrine, precursor chemicals, 10 firearms, a taser, a baton and several stolen vehicles.
The illicit laboratory team (ILIT) attended the location to remove the lab items and render the property safe for further inspections.
A 41 year-old Jimboomba man with links to Mongols OMC has been charged with two counts of trafficking, one count of producing dangerous drugs, three weapons offences, one count of receiving stolen property and various other drug related offences. He is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 1.
A 53 year-old Mount Nathan man was issued a notice to appear for drug possession offences and is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on July 28.
Detective Chief Superintendent Katherine Innes, State Crime Command, said the operation highlighted the unwavering commitment and collaboration across the Queensland Police Service to targeting criminal activity and disrupting the supply of drugs.
“OMC members and other organised crime groups remain firmly in police sights and we will continue taking all available actions to keep the community safe from harm,” Detective Chief Superintendent Katherine Innes said.
