Plain clothes police officers dressed in hoodies and jeans have been spotted questioning groups of teenagers on the streets of western Sydney.
Footage captured the officers on Tuesday – one of whom had a thick beard and a – speaking to the group of 15-year-olds in Parramatta Square.
When asked who they were by one of the teenagers, one of the officers replies they were the ‘police from Parramatta’.
The teenager who filmed the officers claimed his friends were being quizzed about their affiliations to “gangs”, but none of them were arrested.
‘I’ve always been around Parramatta so I’ve seen them arresting other people before and that’s how I knew it was them,’ he told.
He claimed the officers were from Strike Force Raptor – a proactive operation unit launched in 2009 targeting motorcycle club activity.
The footage shows the two hoodie-clad officers stood on a footpath surrounded by the group, who were sat down on a ledge.
‘He’s got a gun and some handcuffs and s**t,’ the teenager behind the camera said.
The 15-year-old then asked ‘who are you mate?’ – to which the officer with a beard replied ‘we’re just the police from Parramatta’.
‘Have any ID on you?’ the officer asked.

The bearded officer then appears to flash a police badge to the camera.
A New South Wales Police spokesperson said the officers were plain clothes police, but refused to disclose any further details about the questioning.
‘The video depicts plain clothes officers undertaking daily proactive duties,’ a police spokeswoman said.
