A high-ranking Comanchero MC member Tarek Zahed has been charged with allegedly perverting the course of justice as part of an ongoing investigation by Strike Force Raptor.
In December 2018, officers from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor arrested a 38-year-old man at a home in Mortlake.
The man was charged with stealing and driving-related offences and appeared before the courts.
Further investigations by strike force investigators revealed the man allegedly provided false information on documents provided to the court in January and May 2019.
On Friday 3 April 2020, officers rearrested the man – now aged 39 – and he was subsequently charged with two counts of do act intending to pervert the course of justice.
Following further inquiries, strike force investigators charged the man with two additional offences for do act intending to pervert the course of justice and wilfully swear falsely in any affidavit on Wednesday 8 April 2020.
It will be alleged in court that the man provided false information on an affidavit.
The man, who is a high-ranking member of the Comanchero MC, was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court today (Wednesday 20 May 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Raptor are continuing.
