Neighbours say they heard “blood-curdling screams” after a double shooting on Monday night in the outer southern Perth suburb of Waikiki.
The circumstances of the shooting are being investigated by WA Police Gang Crime Squad detectives and details are still coming to hand.
What is known is that a woman and man, both in their 20s, were found with bullet wounds around 11.30pm on Monday at a home on Hayeswater Circuit.
A resident said she heard a couple arguing before three gunshots rang out.
“It was a long, blood-curdling scream, one that just really unsettles you,” neighbour Emma Hull said.
“(I felt) disbelief, I guess, did I actually just hear what I thought I heard?”
The man and woman were taken to Royal Perth Hospital for emergency surgery.
Both are in induced comas and under heavy police guard.
By the words of 7NEWS the man has links to a biklie club.
Gunshots
Ms Hull rang the police after hearing the gunshots.
“Maybe if I hadn’t, something worse could have happened,” she said.
“I’m surprised nobody else woke up.”
Ms Hull said the man was carried out by paramedics with blood gushing from his head, while the woman was conscious and sitting up on a stretcher.
UPDATE:
Some other sources saying that the man at the centre of a double shooting in Waikiki last night is a 28-year-old senior Comanchero who owns a teeth whitening business and has been on the radar of detectives for years.
The Comanchero owns a company called Perth Bright Whites, which promotes itself on Instagram as a teeth whitening business. The company’s registered address when it was created on May 22, 2019, was 21 Hayeswater Cct, Waikiki — the address of last night’s shooting.
Mandurah Superintendent Stuart Mearns said the shooting was being treated as domestic violence and bikie links were not part of the investigation.
“I really want to say that those links or those possible links have nothing to do with this incident — we are treating it as a family violence incident,” he said.
“We believe that this is an isolated incident and we are not looking for any other parties involved.”
Supt Mearns said there were other people present at the house at the time and they were assisting police with the investigation. He said the firearm used in the shooting had been seized and there was no further danger to the public.
“What I really want to say to the community of Waikiki and the wider community is that police do not have any further concerns about public safety,” Supt Mearns said.
