By his words he was sitting at his mate’s backyard and drinking beer when he heard a scream from a nearby house just after 8pm on Monday.

He said: “I heard some screams from afar. It’s a rough area, so it’s not uncommon to hear screams. But it was the scream that made me react.” Than he peered over the fence and saw a smoke from a neighbour’s property in Solar Drive, so he decided to ran into the flames to help people.

When he arrived there already were people trying to get in, but fire made it really difficult to do. After confirming there was someone trapped inside, Mr Stankovski rammed the door open.

He covered his face from the smoke and fire with his t-shirt, branded with Bandidos MC colours, he searched the house, find an elderly women and took her out of the burning building.

“Adrenaline kicked in and I picked her up and got her through the smoke. I was walking blind. It was all a bit of a blur until I got to the front door.’’, he said.

The woman was taken to Geelong hospital in a stable condition. Firefighters took an hour to control the blaze.
