4 arrested in police raid targeting bikies in Yaamba

Over the weekend police from State Crime Command’s Taskforce Maxima Organised Crime Gangs Group, along with local detectives, Tactical Crime Squad and Road Policing Unit undertook tactical activities in relation to an event at Yaamba following intelligence about attendance by people associated with motorcycle clubs.

Three arrests were made in relation to motorcycle club members wearing prohibited items in public including:
• A 41-year-old Zillmere man has been issued with a Notice to Appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow for wear prohibited item
• A 48-year-old Alton Downs man issued a Notice to Appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on October 6 for wear prohibited item.
• A 38-year- old Gympie man was issued with a Notice to Appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on October 15 for wear a prohibited item.

Two men were arrested in relation to outstanding warrants, including a 37-year-old Rochedale man wanted by New South Wales Police on a revocation of parole warrant. The man appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates court where extradition was approved.

A 68-year-old Bakers Creek man has been issued a Notice to Appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on October 13 for assault police.

Tactical activities included patrols, vehicle inspections and roadside drug and alcohol testing.

During the operational activity between July 31 and August 3, police charged a total of 25 people in the Yaamba area for drug driving and one person for drink driving.

Detective Inspector Tim Leadbetter said specialist officers from the Organised Crime Gangs Group will continue taking proactive policing activities to keep communities safe.

“Taskforce Maxima officers including our Road Policing Unit will continue working with regional police across the state to disrupt and dismantle criminal activity and keep gangs out of our communities,” Detective Inspector Leadbetter said.
