Why alleged Rebels bikie from Cairns still in custody despite being granted bail

AN alleged bikie club member remains in custody despite being granted bail by a Cairns magistrate after he allegedly refused to give police access to his mobile phone.

Phillip Yanner, 45, who is allegedly a member of the Rebels, was told by Acting Magistrate Susie Warrington he could be released on the condition he co-operate with police and unlock the phone.

His solicitor Bebe Mellick explained the complex unlocking procedure in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Friday morning, but said his client was willing to comply.

He was ordered to report weekly to police and remain living at his White Rock home as part of his bail conditions, along with providing phone access.

But it is alleged after court he still would not comply and was remanded in custody with the case set to go back to court on Saturday morning.
