Perth’s Table Community Food Centre receives funds for food from Old Bastards

For the second year in a row the Old Bastards Motorcycle Club from Rideau Lakes made a generous donation to The Table Community Food Centre in Perth.

This year a donation of $743 was made in memory of Mel Hicken of Perth, who passed away two years ago after several battles with cancer. Mel spent a lifetime in the motorcycling community. He was a friend and mentor to anyone who showed an interest in motorcycles and was always able to offer valuable insight and skills right up until his passing. He was a member of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group (CVMG) and a member of the Old Bastards Vintage Motorcycle Club (OBVMC). He rode trial bikes and collected a number of vintage motorcycles over the years. His pride and joy was a fully restored 1937 Triumph Tiger 90, which he kept in pristine condition. It was the exact motorcycle his father had owned when Mel was young, and is shown in the photo with he and his widow, Marilyn.

The Table will use the donation to support healthy, fresh food purchases for its Good Food Bank. The club raises funds through sales of regalia and their annual club rally. Funds are used to support various community groups throughout eastern Ontario. Everyone is welcome to join club members for an informal meeting in Perth on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. on Market Street behind town hall.
