Local motorcycle enthusiasts with the Saints Motorcycle Club of Lincoln County are already making plans to lend helping hands to the elderly next Christmas, after preparing more than 50 Christmas Day plates here this past December.
“We had a great day,” said Mike “Boss Hogg” Jergins with the Saints MC of Lincoln County, noting that 52 plates were prepared and delivered to elderly residents this Christmas. “Each of the meals were delivered by our folks in vehicles, each escorted by members on motorcycles.”
The tradition of cooking and delivery Christmas Day meals to the elderly began with the Currahee Motorcycle Club 16 years ago. Since the tradition began, the numbers have continued to grow, Jergins said, adding that the public’s help in identifying elderly residents for benefit of the effort is essential.
“We’d also like to thank local businesses that helped us this year,” he said, expressing the club’s appreciation to Holt’s IGA, Gerald’s Foodland, CNT Auto Parts, TNT Construction, and Cline Towing. “We’ll definitely do it again next year!”
