LEO Motorcycle Club and first responders are supporting a young girl’s medical costs for heart surgery

Tulsa, Okla. — The Tulsa County #188 Fraternal Order of Police and Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club are working together to help a young girl named McKenna Zamora.

The 10-year-old is a child to one of our Tulsa County emergency dispatchers, April Zamora. She says McKenna has undergone three open heart surgeries after she was born with a defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She says in other words, McKenna has half of a heart.

Because of the defect, April says memory loss, seizures and stroke are not uncommon for the young girl. Despite it all, her mother says McKenna is very strong and brave. She says the 10 year old is her own self advocate and wants other children to not be defined by their challenges or health issues

The Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club members, made up of serving and retired law enforcement and firefighters in the area, says they are hoping to raise as much as they can to help McKenna and her mom with medical expenses. The family has had to travel to their cardiologist in Little Rock, Arkansas more frequently since McKenna has started to notice complications with her heart. The Iron Pigs and FOP are hosting a Poker Run fundraiser June 27th but have already started raising money on social media.

Help us make a difference! Please donate, and get behind this wonderful little lady!

April says they have started medications to prolong a heart transplant, but she says it’s clear her daughter’s heart is failing. She will need the major surgery at some point. She says she couldn’t be more grateful she has the support of her community behind her.
