Monsanto court opens to try Hells Angels case on 22nd of April

Hells Angels

The Portuguese judicial system works as if the times were judicial holidays, due to the State of Emergency, imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. This means that the suspension of procedural deadlines has been decreed, with some exceptions, such as cases considered urgent, with defendants arrested.

In order to prevent the Hells Angels case from breaking the deadlines and the defendants still detained from being released, Judge Carlos Alexandre requested the two courtrooms at the Monsanto Court to resume the investigation phase of the case that originated in the club’s attack on the rival Mário Machado, in a restaurant at Prior Velho, in Loures.

Thus, from the 22nd, more than 80 defendants and witnesses will be heard – many by videoconference
