Comanchero hangaround jailed for assault

Comanchero MC

A COMANCHERO associate has been jailed for threatening to kill a former colleague in a bid to avoid paying an outstanding debt.

Mustafa Akbaba, 26, described as a “hang around” of the Comanchero MC, launched a vicious attack on a concreter in a dark industrial estate in Somerton on July 12, 2018.

Just days earlier the victim loaned Akbaba $1500 to help him pay another outstanding debt on the promise he would start working for him the next day to repay the money.

When Akbaba failed to show up, the victim tried unsuccessfully to contact him. The court heard Akbaba texted and asked to meet at the industrial estate.

When the victim arrived Akbaba punched him in the face, kicked him repeatedly, then pressed a knife to his throat and threatened to kill him if he went to the police.

Akbaba, who lived with his parents in Dallas and was on bail at the time, pleaded guilty to intentionally causing injury, threatening to kill, testosterone possession and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

He was sentenced to 14 months’ jail and a two-year community corrections order. Judge Susan Pullen described his actions as “disturbing”.
