Two charged after drugs, weapons, stolen car found during Gold Coast apartment raid

Taskforce Maxima and the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad officers executed a search warrant at a Surfers Paradise apartment on Friday.

Officers located and seized a loaded hand gun, dangerous drugs and a stolen 2014 Porsche Cayenne.

As a result, police arrested a 29-year-old Shailer Park man with alleged links to the Mongols MC for unlawfully possessing a firearm and possessing dangerous drugs, including Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBH), ecstasy, cocaine and steroids. He was also charged with possessing utensils used to smoke dangerous drugs, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and contravene order for access information.

A 28-year-old Surfers Paradise woman was also charged with possessing dangerous drugs, including Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBH), ecstasy and cocaine. Detective Senior Sergeant Troy Lehmann said that despite recent restrictions placed on the community, police are still actively pursuing those involved in criminality.

“Such activity is unacceptable and poses a risk to others within the community,” Detective Senior Sergeant Lehmann said.

The 29-year-old man appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday. He is due to appear again on July 20.

The 28-year-old woman is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on July 8.
