Dangerous operation and firearm offences Gold Coast, Mongols bikie arrested

A 38-year-old man, who is a known associate of the Mongols MC, has been arrested after allegedly being in possession of a firearm and driving dangerously across the Gold Coast overnight.

Around 7.10pm last night a white Holden Commodore with alleged stolen plates failed to stop for police at Clifford Street at Surfers Paradise.

Around 9pm this same vehicle was observed by officers at Hooker Boulevard at Broadbeach where PolAir began to track it.

The vehicle was only tracked by air and observed to allegedly travel northbound at high speeds and at times on the wrong side of the road.

Police successfully deployed a Tyre Deflation Device (TDD) on Oxley Drive at Runaway Bay.

The vehicle continued to be allegedly driven at high speeds with its lights off along Brisbane Road heading towards the M1.

A stationary police vehicle which had attempted to block the road at Siganto Drive at Helensvale was allegedly rammed by the vehicle.

Around 9.30pm the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody. He was not injured in the incident.

A search of the vehicle allegedly located approximately $48,065 in cash, a firearm and a quantity of amphetamine.

A 38-year-old man from Nundah has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade, driving while disqualified, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of utensil, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, unlawful possession of a weapon and suspected stolen property.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are ongoing.
