GREENVILLE, Pitt County — Greenville Police are investigating the death of a motorcyclist they say was killed Sunday evening when the driver of a car turned in front of the bike.
Investigators say the crash occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on US-264A near Boardwalk Lane; the report shows that the biker, 25-year-old Donald Ray Bryant of Winterville, was traveling southwest when a car driven by 31-year-old Laquita Frost of Greenville, made a left turn from Boardwalk Lane onto US-264A into the path of the bike.
Officials say the bike hit the driver’s side panel of the car and Bryant was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Frost was taken to Vidant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Bryant was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and officials say it appears that speed was a factor.
According to witnesses, he was riding in a group with several other motorcyclists, who left the scene after the crash.
