Three men, one with links to the Gypsy Joker Motorcycle Club, have been charged following the theft of more than a quarter of a million dollars’ worth of gold.
The men range in age from 28-37 and face a string of allegations relating to an incident at a gold mine in the Goldfields-Esperance district in April of this year.
It’s alleged the men stole about $270,000 worth of raw gold ore along with a two-tonne safe.
They also allegedly stole a front-end loader from the gold mine site to load the safe onto a four-wheel-drive vehicle, and then used another 4WD vehicle to block an access road.
All vehicles were stolen from the site.
The safe was found after a member of the public reported suspicious activity and explosions in bushland between Kambalda and Kalgoorlie.
Police attended and uncovered one stolen 4WD vehicle and the safe, which was still intact.
The charged men, who are all from Boulder, will face Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Thursday.
