Devonport, Tas (B-N.C) – Two Bandidos MC members have been charged with a range of serious offences including aggravated burglary, assault, demand property with menaces and consorting.
A 35 year old Devonport man has been charged with: aggravated burglary, assault, demand property with menaces, drug offences and consorting.
A 31 year East Devonport man has been charged with: aggravated burglary, assault, demand property with menaces and consorting. Both men are members of the Bandidos MC Mersey Chapter.
The charges relate to an incident that occurred in the Devonport area on 14 June 2020 where the men allegedly invaded a house, assaulted an occupant and demanded a sum of money. As a result of the investigation, a search was conducted by police in Devonport today. During the search a small quantity of illicit drugs were located.
The men were detained to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court (after hours) tonight.
Detective Acting Inspector Martin Parker said that intelligence held by Tasmania Police links Tasmanian motorcycle clubs to the manufacture and distribution of illicit drugs, firearms offences and the use of threats of violence to protect their way of life.
“We will continue to target outlaw motorcycle gang members in terms of criminal activity, anti-social or intimidating behaviour, or breaches of our laws,” Detective Acting Inspector Parker said.
