Krista’s Annual Motorcycle Event began on Sunday at St. Boniface Ushers Club from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. where bikers participated in a 100-mile bike ride to give back to kids as part of the Greater Pennsylvania Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Sunday marked 21 years since founder Bob Pawlowski created this event after losing his 14-year-old daughter Krista to a fatal illness.
“In honor of my daughter’s name – she was a Wish Kid herself – and we just continue to do it. We’ve raised over $500,000 in the last 21 years,” said event coordinator, Bob Pawlowski.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation helps fulfill the wishes of critically ill children. The donations from this morning’s event is going to do just that.
“You feel good when you do something for those children,” Pawlowski added. “That’s why all these people are here.”
“We get on motorcycles, go to different locations, and then we get together at the end for a band and some food, and just support Make-A-Wish, and help make kids’ wishes come true,” said participant, Lexi Ballimont.
The coronavirus still poses a threat, so there are some changes this year like mandatory masks and social distancing. Nonetheless, the goal is still the same: to make kids’ wishes come true.
