Pontiac, Mi: Sheriff’s office offers $1,000 reward after biker struck by SUV, dies in hit-and-run crash

The Oakland County Sheriff’s office is offering a $1,000 cash reward for anyone who helps find the car or driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a man on Saturday afternoon, the Sheriff’s office said in a press release.

A man was riding a bike at about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in the eastbound lane of Jessie and Osmun Roads in Pontiac when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV and died, the release said.

It’s unclear from the press release if the man, who appeared to be in his 60s, succumbed immediately to his injuries from being struck by the Escape or died later after the accident.

The driver of the SUV, which is believed to be a black or dark blue Ford Escape, came through the intersection, travelling eastbound, struck the man on the bike, stopped to check on him and then drove off when a person who witnessed the crash approached.

The driver of the Escape was identified as a black woman, who was last seen driving away eastbound on Jessie Road, with some suspected front-end damage to her vehicle.
