Video has emerged of a brawl at a Canberra nightspot moments before the death of a bikie boss.
The social media video obtained by 9News shows a fight erupting at around midnight on Saturday at Kokomo’s in Civic.
A photograph also shows blood on the floor of the bar in the aftermath of the incident.Canberra Comanchero commander Pitasoni Ulavalu, 48, died at the scene a short time later.A police investigation is ongoing, and no-one has yet been charged over the brawl or Mr Ulavalu’s death.
An associate of Mr Ulavalu, Jaymie Leam Turner, 30, was today charged with affray and making an intentional threat to kill after he allegedly attempted to pass a cordon around the crime scene early on Sunday morning.Court documents filed in Mr Turner’s case allege that multiple members of the Comanchero Motorcycle Club were involved in the incident inside Kokomo’s.
The ACT Magistrates also court heard Mr Turner rushed to the scene from home after he received a phone call telling him that a friend had been injured in a fight.
It’s alleged when Mr Turner was denied access to the scene, he pointed his finger in the face of one officer and screamed “I’ll f—ing break your nose c—.”
Police allege Mr Turner also swung his arm and hand toward an officer, and later ran at a bystander who called out to him and punched the person in the face, before he was arrested.
Once in custody, it’s claimed police told Mr Turner that his friend and died and that he wouldn’t be getting bail.
Upset, he allegedly yelled at an officer “I’m going to find your kids and your partner and I’m going to f— them all up”.
Prosecutors opposed Mr Turner’s release arguing he was already on a good behaviour order, and his actions showed a lack of respect for authority.
Magistrate Louise Taylor said she couldn’t be confident he’d comply with the court’s orders and refused bail. Mr Turner is yet to enter any pleas.
