The U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club is a national organization with many local chapters according to local event organizer Roque “Scrappy” Carmona of Alabaster.
Carmona is a veteran of Iraqi Freedom and served in the U.S. Army between 2008-2015 as a Medic. His motorcycle club, based in Alabaster, is hosting a 9.11 Commemorative Ride that starts at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park, 7305 Highway 119 Alabaster, AL and ends at Escape Farms, 13753 East Capitol Drive, Lawley, AL on September 12, 2020.
Escape Farms is located in Bibb County, owned by Jim and Christy Sherbrook and located at the intersection of U.S. 82 and County Road 36 near the old Rucker General Store.
The Motorcycle ride begins at 11:15 a.m. Cost for the ride is $15 and $10 for passenger.
There will be food and music at Escape Farms and the event is open to all Veterans and the public from 1-6 p.m. There is no charge for admission. Food is available for purchase. Music by named bands will be ongoing during the afternoon. There will also be games and door prizes for those who attend. Plenty of free parking is also available.
A featured attraction for the event is the EYES OF FREEDOM display. This display is a huge traveling salute to service members and a memorial to those who fought in Iraq with Mike Strahle, one of Lima Company’s very own.
