A Queensland Magistrate has backed Shane Bowden in court today (Oct 1st), calling the Queensland border declaration form “stupid” and “confusing”.
Bowden pleaded guilty to providing false information on the form, by declaring he hadn’t been positive to COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to entering Queensland.
Bowden’s defence argued his client had misread the question on the border form, when ticking the box that declared he hadn’t been “clear” of COVID-19 for 14 days.
The question read: “Do you currently have COVID-19, or in the past 14 days have been a cleared case of COVID-19?”
“I can understand how he has been somewhat confused … I find it confusing,” Magistrate Joan White told the court.
She muttered “stupid” under her breath as she examined the border form.
Bowden was fined $750 and no conviction was recorded.
