A non-profit motorcycle club made up of active, former, and retired firefighters will host an outdoor Halloween party, with plenty of bikes and candy.
The Red Knights ME VI Motorcycle Club does a lot of good for the Maine community. Just recently, they presented a boy with Mobius Syndrome with a $2,400 check, to help him get his smile. Mobius Syndrome affects the facial muscles, making it impossible for a person to smile or frown. The donation will help Harper get the surgeries he needs to allow him to smile in the future.
On Halloween, the group wanted to find a way to help kids still have some fun, while remaining socially distanced and safe. So, they’re hosting a ‘Fright with a Knight’ trunk or treat party at the Brewer IGA on October 31st. The parking lot at 87 South Main Street in Brewer will be filled with decorated bikes, beginning at 5 p.m. The motorcycles will be stuffed with Halloween candy and treats, as well as sanitation supplies, and will be spaced far enough apart to allow for physical distancing.
It promises to be a ‘knight’ of fun for kids and their parents, with some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. My personal memory of the Red Knights took place at Spencer’s Ice Cream in Bradford last summer. A group of bikers was enjoying their ice cream when our dog Gifford approached them. We tried pulling him back, but he was undaunted, jumping up on the picnic table’s bench and kissing the biggest, baddest-looking guy on the cheek. Everyone started laughing and they gave Gifford lots of love and treats. Now, they want to share some treats with your kids, to make it a fun Halloween, despite the changes in the world.
Questions about the event can be directed to the Red Knights or the Brewer IGA.
