65 years old mechanic from Ipswich Glenn Trevor Statham faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday on “wearing a prohibited item in public” charges.

The Court heard from police prosecutor that Mr. Statham is a “confirmed member” of Odin’s Warriors Motorcycle Club and pleaded guilty to a “single charge of wearing a prohibited item in public”.

The imputed to the defendant “offence” happened August 19, 2019 at Stapylton near the Gem Hotel.

Odin’s Warriors MC have had a known event and police cordoned area performing stationary licence checks at the hotel’s service station.

Court heard that after Mr.Statham was pulled over on his motorcycle for a check, police noticed a “six to seven centimetre brass pin” with Odin’s Warriors’ MC logo.

By police prosecutor allegations the Court heard that “only fully patched or probational members can wear” such kind of badges.

From other side, Mr.Statham claimed that the badge is a symbol of an “old Australian Army unit” and was bought on eBay what can be proven as he had eBay emails from 2017 proving the purchase.

Mr.Statham changed his plea to guilty before court hearing when another person charged on the same day and location with the same offence had been found guilty by a judge after entering a not guilty plea.

Statham, who has no criminal history, was fined $450 and no conviction was recorded.
