Remembering 9/11: motorcycle club replaces American flag near Spooner Summit

American Flag

CARSON CITY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — You may have seen it before on your way back to Reno from South Lake Tahoe.

Old Glory proudly waves off Highway 50 atop a mound of large boulders.

The flag was first placed there by self-proclaimed “at- home patriot”, Chris Sneed, on September 11, 2001.

Every year since then, Sneed makes a trip back out to the area and replaces the flag.

This year, the ceremony was held around 5 p.m. The flag was lowered and given to a Gold Star parent who lost his son in Iraq in 2004.
