Jackson Brady Hanley, Jr. rode his bicycle to Kelly’s Kawasaki on Country Club Drive near Eighth Avenue, which is just north of Southern Avenue, in the afternoon on Tuesday, Feb. 11. According to court documents, the 29-year-old grabbed a Kawasaki motorcycle and pushed it down the street. A customer saw this and told an employee who called the police. Officers found Hanley resting on a fence in the area of 10th Avenue and Drew Street, which is nearly a mile away. The motorcycle was tipped over but still upright, according to court paperwork.

Police said Hanley admitted to stealing the bicycle because he was celebrating four months of sobriety. Hanley said he was going to walk the motorcycle back to his house and start it there. He was also confessed to being drunk off of Moscato and vodka. Because of the way the motorcycle was leaning against the asphalt, it caused about $3,500 worth of damage to the exhaust.

Hanley was booked into jail and charged with one count of theft of means of transportation, a class 3 felony.
