Birmingham, Ala.: Victim identified following fatal weekend shooting at motorcycle club

BIRMINGHAM — The victim of a weekend shooting at a Birmingham motorcycle club has been identified.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner, 40-year-old Naquinton Brown died of a gunshot wound which was sustained on Saturday, Aug. 8. Brown was one of six people – including an off-duty Birmingham police officer – shot at an Ensley motorcycle club late Saturday night. The incident occurred at 11:49 p.m. at #1 Stunnas Motor Sport Club on 18th Street.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation due to the officer’s involvement.

According to Mauldin, six people sustained gunshot wounds during the incident and were transported to UAB Hospital.

The other five victims also suffered non-life threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation suggest an altercation occurred prior to shots being fired, according to Mauldin. The nature of the altercation is unknown.

The State Bureau of Investigation is leading the case and has not yet issued an update about the incident.
