While the pandemic has put a damper on some of the in-person events that happen around Long Island. But that doesn’t mean you can’t help out those who need it most this holiday season. Below are some great toy drives on Long Island so you can brighten a child’s holiday this year.
Red Knights Motorcycle Club NY Chapter 26 “Drive-In Drop-Off” Toy Run – the Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau INTERFACE program will host the Red Knights Motorcycle Club New York Chapter 26 “Drive-In Drop-Off” Toy Run. This year, only new, unwrapped toys and/or cash donations will be accepted – no teddy bears. Each year, the club holds this event to collect donations for needy children in Brookhaven Town. The drive provides thousands of toys to children ranging in age from infant to 15-years-old. Go to the Toy Run page or call the Red Knights at (631) 331-2675 for more information. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Holiday for Kids’ Sake – Create holiday magic by providing gifts to more than 150 families and nearly 500 children. For each child sponsored, the organization provides a list of wishlist items (under $30 each) as well as a little bit about the child to help you shop. Gifts collected no later than December 4. 29th Annual John Theissen Foundation Long Island Toy Drive – Be a part of something very special as WBAB, BLI and the John Theissen Children’s Foundation join together to brighten the holiday season for sick and underprivileged Long Island Children. 100% of toys and funds collected stay right here on Long Island and are distributed to over 225 hospitals, agencies and child-care facilities before Christmas. Date/Time: Please drop off new, unwrapped toys by Sunday, December 22. Location: John Theissen Children’s Foundation Wish Room, 1881 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh. Toys For Tots – According to an article in Newsday, Long Island’s Toys for Tots program is going on despite the pandemic. LI’s Toys for Tots campaign goes on despite pandemic Collection boxes must be picked up in person. Toys collected for Nassau must be dropped off at 700 Hicksville Rd. in Bethpage. All Suffolk County police stations and the Bayshore Marine Corps League Detachment #247 will serve as drop-off locations.
10th Annual Toy Drive in Support of the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots – Drive-through event in which donors pull up to the drop-off point so that a small team of pre-designated volunteers can efficiently and safely collect new, unwrapped toys. Drivers will remain in their cars at all times, and masks will be required.Date/Time: Sunday, Dec. 6, 9am – Noon. Rain, shine or snow. Location: Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum 1255 Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale.
