After a several-day break for various reasons, the trial of a Pontiac man charged with a deadly shooting at a motorcycle club resumes today.
Gregory Kincade, 42, is accused of shooting to death Mecca Shea Ramsey at the Night Riders Motorcycle Club on April 27, 2019. Wounded in the shooting was Malcolm Chambers, who was reportedly talking with Ramsey in the club bathroom when bullets began to fly.
Ramsey was shot 12 times and died at the scene. He was 41 years old.
Chambers, who has testified that he didn’t actually see Kincade pull the trigger, said it was Kincade who came into the bathroom just before the shooting began, and that he was told to look away or he’d be killed.
The trial, which began last week before Judge Shalina Kumar of Oakland County Circuit Court, was suspended on Friday, Feb. 14 for an undisclosed reason. The court was closed Monday, Feb. 17 in honor of Presidents Day.
The prosecution could wrap up its case today. Defense attorney Jerome Sabbota has said he will call Kincade to the stand to testify in his defense.
Kincade is charged with open murder, assault with intent to murder and firearms charges. If he’s convicted of any of the charges, prosecutors will seek enhanced sentencing due to his criminal history. He has prior convictions for robbery and domestic violence.
